Seoul, September 26, 2025 — Ecoeye, a leading carbon market and sustainability solutions provider, announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. (KOWEPO) to jointly strengthen Korea’s response to the greenhouse gas Emissions Trading System (K-ETS) and contribute to achieving the national greenhouse gas reduction target (NDC).

The MOU reflects the increasing importance of the ETS as a central mechanism for Korea’s carbon neutrality strategy and a response tool to global regulatory pressures. By combining Ecoeye’s expertise in carbon markets and offset development with KOWEPO’s advanced carbon reduction technologies, the two organizations will cooperate to discover and implement international reduction projects aligned with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, CORSIA, and voluntary carbon markets.

Through this cooperation, Ecoeye and KOWEPO will:

  • - Combine Ecoeye’s market intelligence, offset expertise, and verification capabilities with KOWEPO’s technological leadership, including the world’s first commercial gas turbine hydrogen co-firing demonstration.
  • - Jointly identify and execute international reduction business projects that create high-quality, verifiable carbon credits, and participate actively in global carbon credit mechanisms.
  • - Provide practical solutions and strengthen resilience to Korea’s ETS by preparing businesses for stricter regulatory requirements during the upcoming 4th planning period. (2026–2030).
  • - Contribute to the realization of Korea’s Net Zero targets and strengthen Korea’s position in the global carbon market by linking domestic innovation with international demand.

Ecoeye holds over 55% of Korea’s overseas reduction performance certifications and operates CARBON-i, a market intelligence platform delivering comprehensive analysis of domestic and international carbon market trends. KOWEPO, one of Korea’s largest state-owned power companies, has demonstrated global leadership with its hydrogen co-firing technology and continues to advance toward its Net Zero 2047 goals.

Eom Kyung-il, Vice President of Technology Safety at Korea Western Power, remarked:

“This agreement is an important step for Korea Western Power and Ecoeye to work together in supporting the national greenhouse gas reduction target and responding effectively to the strengthened emissions trading system. By actively participating in international reduction projects, we aim to reinforce Korea’s leadership in the global carbon market.”

Lee Soo-bok, CEO of Ecoeye, emphasized:

“Through this partnership, we will combine Ecoeye’s expertise in offsets and market intelligence with Korea Western Power’s advanced low-carbon technologies to create strong synergies. Together, we are committed to driving high-quality reduction projects that support Korea’s NDC, strengthen the ETS, and advance our role in the international carbon market.”
