Ecoeye Conducts Carbon Market Capacity-Building Training for Senior Officials of Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE) |
---|
Following
its amendment in June of the law on greenhouse gas emissions reduction and
ozone layer protection—which
includes provisions for operating both domestic and international carbon
markets—the Vietnamese
government has launched the Pilot Phase 1 of its Emissions Trading Scheme
(ETS) and plans to gradually expand ETS operations from 2029 onward.
During
the pilot phase, the government has recognized the urgent need to refine the
legal framework and establish an operational platform for the carbon market.
Accordingly, the Department of Climate Change (DCC), the agency
overseeing Vietnam’s climate change response policies, has requested
cooperation from Korea in sharing ETS operational experience and expertise,
training specialists, and transferring carbon trading platform technology.
In response, Ecoeye announced that it will provide carbon market capacity-building training to a delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE) of Vietnam. The ETS capacity-building program, independently designed by Ecoeye, will be co-organized with the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Research Center of Korea (GIR), Korea Environment Corporation (KECO), both under the Ministry of Environment, as well as the Korea Exchange (KRX). A public-private delegation of 14 members, including representatives from the DCC and Hanoi Stock Exchange, will participate in the training in Korea from August 11 to 15. Prior to the start of the program, on August 8, the MAE delegation visited Ecoeye to express gratitude for the initiative and to request continued cooperation in establishing Vietnam’s carbon market.
Ecoeye’s CEO expressed gratitude to the MAE delegation and the public-private training participants for their high evaluation of Ecoeye’s business capabilities and future vision. The CEO also called for strong support and cooperation to ensure that the capacity-building program designed by Ecoeye and the intergovernmental collaboration on the Korea–Vietnam carbon market will be sustained beyond a one-time effort.
